Maynard James Keenan revela playlist ouvida como inspiração para o novo disco Puscifer

Maynard James Keenan tornou pública a seleção de 80 músicas que o acompanhou durante a criação de “Normal Isn’t”, quinto álbum do Puscifer, previsto para 6 de fevereiro.

O vocalista divulgou a lista em 2 de dezembro, oferecendo um panorama do que influenciou as sessões gravadas no Arizona, em Los Angeles e na estrada durante a turnê Sessanta. Enquanto os parceiros Carina Round e Mat Mitchell preferiram playlists enxutas, Keenan mergulhou em faixas que vão do pós-punk dos anos 80 ao industrial do fim da década de 90.

Entre os destaques aparecem Tones on Tail, Bauhaus, The Cure, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Joy Division, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails e Dead Can Dance, confirmando a forte inclinação do músico pelo repertório alternativo britânico. A diversidade, segundo Mat Mitchell, dialoga com o conceito do novo trabalho: “Retiramos as barreiras e deixamos a música mais agressiva”.

Keenan acrescentou que o álbum reflete “o período em que vivemos”, reforçando o papel do grupo como observador social. As gravações contaram com Greg Edwards no baixo, Gunnar Olsen e Sarah Jones na bateria, além das participações especiais de Tony Levin e Danny Carey em faixas pontuais.

Com pré-venda já disponível, “Normal Isn’t” será promovido em uma turnê norte-americana que começa em 20 de março, em Las Vegas, e termina em 14 de maio no Greek Theatre, em Los Angeles, passando por cidades como Phoenix, Nova York e Red Rocks, no Colorado.
