A banda Weezer está em festa, comemorando os 30 anos de seu álbum de estreia autointitulado, conhecido como “The Blue Album”, e a celebração promete ser grandiosa. Além de uma turnê pelos Estados Unidos com convidados de peso como Flaming Lips e Dinosaur Jr., o grupo anunciou o relançamento expandido do álbum, previsto para 1º de novembro.
A edição Super Deluxe é aclamada como “a visão mais abrangente de ‘The Blue Album’ já realizada”. Distribuído em quatro LPs de 12 polegadas, um EP de 10 polegadas e um single de 7 polegadas, o conjunto inclui uma versão remasterizada do álbum original e 36 faixas inéditas. Entre essas gravações recém-descobertas estão oito “Kitchen Tape Demos”, 22 gravações de ensaios e ao vivo, seis gravações de rádio da BBC e quatro faixas das sessões na Loyola Marymount University. Como aperitivo, Weezer divulgou a gravação mais antiga conhecida de “Undone – The Sweater Song”.
O tesouro musical é acompanhado por notas inéditas do historiador da banda, Karl Koch, fotos nunca antes vistas do grupo, gráficos em relevo de “suéter” com um fio retrátil, litografias e mais. A edição de aniversário de 30 anos de Weezer (The Blue Album) também será lançada em um box set Ultra Limited Edition, envolto em um verdadeiro suéter de tricô e disponível exclusivamente na loja virtual da banda. Outras configurações disponíveis incluem um conjunto de luxo com 3 CDs, várias variantes de vinil LP único e uma versão digital.
A turnê “Voyage to the Blue Planet”, com participações de Flaming Lips e Dinosaur Jr., começa hoje à noite em Saint Paul, Minnesota, Estados Unidos e segue até meados de outubro.
